TheLastPictureShow_BANNER unnamed-3Yuko Uchikawa began her graphic design career at Bureau, a commercial design firm started by ACT UP/Gran Fury members. Photography book design came to her in the form of photographer Joseph Rodriguez, whose photos she used for a book for Kaya Press in 1997. Since then, she has designed numerous books for powerHouse Books as well as other publishers. She is particularly interested in the power of storytelling through documentary photography, and she has been privileged to work with photographers whose commitment to their art and their subjects has given her a deeper understanding of the human experience. Parallel to her design career, she has dedicated her life to anti-violence education and she is a self-defense instructor and certified mediator. For nearly three decades, collaboration, problem-solving, communication, and transformation have been the central threads of her professional and creative life.
